Overabundance

My brother’s kids have everything in the world. Every time I go and see them they’re riding around in new bikes, wearing new clothes, or playing with their new LG Vortex accessories. My brother and I didn’t have much while we were growing up, so I guess I understand why he feels the need to spoil his children. Every time we talk about this I try to explain that if you don’t teach them any work ethic that they’re just going to go into adulthood thinking that everything is going to be given to them.

He understands this concept and is a very bright guy, but he just can’t seem to bring himself to make his kids go without anything. The last time we spoke he was buying himself a bunch T-Mobile G2 accessories, so he wasn’t really paying attention all that much. His wife and I share the same views so she tries to do everything she can to instill in her children a core of strong values, but at the end of the day they’re just kids, and they just love to play with as many toys and gadgets and basically anything that they can get their hands on.
